iPaint 1.0

iPaint developed by i2Cool features sub-ambient cooling effect without consuming electricity and refrigerants, resulting in significant building energy saving. Using 1m² of iPaint can save at least 120 kWh of electricity and reduce 70kg CO2 emission annually, equivalent to planting 6.3 trees.

Working Principle

Inspired by the Sahara silver ant with self-cooling effects on their skin, i²Cool invented the iPaint (patented in Hong Kong and mainland China) with strong solar reflectivity (i.e., >95%) and high mid-infrared thermal emissivity (i.e., >94%). The atmosphere of the earth is transparent to mid-infrared, resulting in the thermal energy emitted from iPaint can be effectively dissipated into the cold universe (i.e., -270 ºC). Thus, the electricity-free cooling effect is achieved in iPaint.
